David B. Tibbetts, watercolorist
I
live in a small town in New Hampshire where nearby ponds
and rivers fill my pallet. I’m a watercolorist who loves
fishing or perhaps a fisherman who loves to paint
watercolors! They
are of ponds and river, of fisherman and their boats.
My inspiration usually comes while standing in a
river with fly rod in hand. Don’t let this moment escape.
Get out the brushes and have some fun. It’s hard to do sometimes if the trout are rising
so I get out my camera and shoot a roll or two.
Rivers,
rocks, boats and constant change, exciting stuff to me.
Back in my studio I paint and go back to that magic
moment. I
want people to enjoy that moment, too. Not as I enjoyed it, but with whatever they bring
to the painting. Fortunately
I live in a part of the world where, within five minutes
to three hours, I can be on some of the best fishing and
painting water in the country. Fly fishing has brought me so much more than the
catching.
I
have met wonderful folks on the rivers and lakes over the
past 40+ years, and have formed friendships that last to
this day. I
treasure the memories of great days on the water with
paint brush and fly rod in hand and friends to share them
with.
So
if you’re ever out on a river or pond and see a guy with
a full beard, wearing a grey Greek fisherman's cap with a
streamer stuck in the side of it, say hello and swap some
fishing stories. I
can lie with the best of 'em! |
